Human Capital Research Corporation (HCRC), a Chicago based research consultancy specializing in higher education enrollment, finance and market development is seeking individuals with outstanding quantitative and creative talents to join our Slate division. 

Professional staff at HCRC work in a team setting in close collaboration with institutional clients on a wide variety of applied research and policy related projects. As a Senior Slate Consultant, you will have a lead role regarding all facets of HCRC’s Slate division and work in close concert with HCRC’s Slate Directors, as well as our research analysts. In addition to working in collaboration with our analysts and on behalf of our clients, this position will afford you innumerable opportunities to forge alliances with outside organizations, share your work with professional and academic communities, and advance as a leader in the realm of CRM and analytic technologies designed to aid the social returns of a college education, and by so-doing the market position of our firm.

Scope of Duties

Implementation

Provide fully customized implementation support from project management to reimagining business practice and designing student-centric processes that drive yield and retention. Unleash the power of Slate for enrollment management, student success and advancement.

System Audits

Diagnose and inventory colleges’ current use, configuration, and design of Slate, and
recommend areas for remediation, enhancement, and exploration.

Development

Design and execute fully custom development in Slate, from stand-out constituent portals (applicant, alumni, faculty, athletics, etc.) to automated academic indexing, scholarship calculation, and all manner of complex workflows.

Communication Strategy

From new student search, to anti-melt and orientation, to alumni services, intelligently segment outreach to all audiences using appropriately-designed email templates with appropriate Calls to Action.

Reporting and Analytics

From customized recruitment dashboards that easily display relevant funnel data, to personalized market scorecards that rank high schools and territories, to reports that identify the most impactful messaging you are communicating to students, leverage the power and insights of Human Capital’s unparalleled research and modeling directly within Slate.

Data Integration (both client-facing and internally)

Help automate and streamline disparate data from a multitude of sources within the Slate environment to enrich analytics, modeling, tools, and data insights render to the balance of HCRC’s Slate user client portfolio, to help maximize the ROI on HCRC’s professional staff resources and the value-added of HCRC’s product offerings. 

Training

Fully customized institution-specific Slate training from leading experts and practitioners within the Slate community. From Slate best practices, to advanced tips and tricks that drive efficiency, on-site, remote, and hybrid training programs can get new staff up to speed, or take your entire staff to the next level in Slate.

Position requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Degree preferably in computer science, human-computer interaction, digital communications or other related technical field, or clear demonstrated equivalent knowledge and on-the-job experience in lieu of a major in a technical field. 

  • 3+ years of work as Slate Captain in an Admissions, Student Success, and/or Advancement environment 

  • Strong ability to work independently, internally prioritize multiple self-directed projects, and meet tight deadlines to support time-sensitive business needs in the context of fluctuating business conditions

  • Excellent communication skills and strong technical abilities. Ability to explain and breakdown technical processes and terminology to users of varying technical background. 

  • Demonstrated planning, organizational, problem-solving and decision-making skills. 

  • Strong ability to take abstract concepts and strategies and turn them into tangible applications/projects.

  • Ability to lead team projects to achieve outcomes and work directly with both executive and technical stakeholders

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, or a committed desire to learn relational databases, cloud-based infrastructure, web development and related programming/scripting/markup languages (SQL, CSS, HTML, DotLiquid, .Net, JavaScript, JQuery, etc.) 

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to develop “full-stack” within a cloud-based CRM utilizing key languages: languages SQL, CSS, HTML, DotLiquid, .Net, JavaScript, JQuery, etc.

  • Ability to design and develop complex and visually appealing Portals (micro-sites)

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with education and experience. In addition, we offer a very competitive benefits package of vacation, insurance (health, dental, vision, life), retirement plan with employer contribution, flexible spending accounts and eligibility for year-end bonus.
